Hello and welcome to a new calendar year!  A new year resolution we should all consider for 2014 is to get super organized in our digital lives. Teachers are making the effort, especially in grade 6 where students are part of the one-to-one computer program, to remind students to use the Diigo personal knowledge management (PKM) tool. This tool can live as a simple extension in any of your browsers, at top right. It allows students to easily capture information they find online, as well as annotate online text, and keep notes. By using tags, students can easily organize, filter and find information they've saved into their Diigo library. Diigo is a simple program that can have great effect on a student's learning and organizational effectiveness. Parents, please remind your child to use this tool as it will help them learn and make their lives easier. The two videos below should give you a good idea of Diigo's capabilities as well as how to install it.
On another organizational note, please make sure your child is using folders in Google Drive to stay organized. We've asked all students to create a grade level folder for each school year, and in that folder, create a separate folder for each class. Using this type of directory can really help students stay organized and find files efficiently.
